Learn more about the triathlon.
A triathlon is more about swimming, running, and cycling, where we have the start, finish, and checkpoints. The Kilifi Gold Triathlon is an annual fundraising event for the Kilifi community, focusing on local, grassroots projects that make a difference in the lives of those in need. Starting from a small group of friends in 2003 doing a fun triathlon to raise a modest sum, the KGT is now the most popular sprint triathlon in East Africa and has donated millions of shillings to charitable causes in the Kilifi community. It is limited to 250 competitors. Every year, hundreds of spectators line the beach to watch the KGT250 tackle the magical off-road course.

In 2022, they supported the Taylor Ashe Antivenom Trust, providing awareness and medical training to prevent deaths and maiming from snakebites. In memory of the late Royjan Taylor
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the KGT did not take place in 2020 or 2021.
For 2019, THE KGT supported Afya Bora Takaungu and their “1000 Days” program, providing essential services for newborns and ensuring babies survive and thrive.

What Did We Achieve?
We worked with six photographers and two directors to be able to cover the whole triathlon. We had three photographers stationed at the Mnarani Hotel Beach, and they were divided as follows: one was to capture the swimming course; another was to capture the transition as they came in and out of the water; and the last was to capture the audience reaction and key guests.
Three of our other half of half-photographers were on the track as follows: one was positioned at the cyclist, another was to go with the runners, and our last man was following up with the elite players on a bike.
There were different moments that were essential for us, capturing the KGT sponsors together with their prints and merchandise. The Elite Athletes (Elite athletes are those who were merging both swimming, cycling, and running while other athletes were doing in groups of three on the swimming course, cyclists and runners), The audience and fun moments, specific points like the transition, the checkpoints, struggle moments, the most exciting moments and hardships, the finish line, and many more…
