KNOB Digital was proud to be part of the Kilifi Innovation and Business Summit.

The summit was held on October 27, 2023, at Mazingira Park in Kilifi. This summit was a great opening for us as KNOB Digital, with our mission of fostering sustainable business growth through marketing intelligence, creativity, and strategic vision and building an organization that attracts, develops, and retains outstanding people. This marries with our vision of helping small and medium businesses and organizations  to thrive through strategic marketing and public relations for the next 103 years.

Our ventures led us to interacting directly with over 20 businesses out of the many that were present. This was such an exciting experience especially for us as KNOB Digital because this means talking to Kilifi and its boarders. We believe as the leading digital marketer in Kilifi that we are are poised to be a thought leader while we connect with many local business as possible guided by our principle of Networking

Starting with the Kenya Forest Club led by Ciro G, where she envisions a Kenyan people with tree conservation as part of their culture, “We wish that every Kenyan, starting with the younger generation, will appreciate the value of a tree from when it was a seed to the time it provides shade for the later generations to come.” She says.

The Kenya Forest Club is currently working with a target of planting upto 15 billion trees by 2032, a move aimed at: reducing greenhouse emissions, stopping and reversing deforestation and, restoring 5.1 million hectares of deforested and degraded landscapes.

The world’s mangrove forests are being degraded and lost at an alarming rate.

Between 35 and 50 percent of the world’s mangrove forests were lost between 1980 and 2000. That being said, meet Friends of Nature in Fumbini, where they talk about nine species of mangrove.

Avicennia marina (Forsk) Vierh., Rhizophora mucronata Lam., Ceriops tagal C.B. Rob., Lumnitzera racemosa Van Steenis, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza (see note on spelling) (L.) Lam., Sonneratia alba J.E. Smith, Xylocarpus granatum Koenig, Xylocarpus moluccensis (Lamk.)

Every month, they come together with a team of volunteers and take part in the tree-planting exercise. On October 30, 2023, they will be planting mangrove trees at Fumbini Beach and Kilifi Creek.Among them are Jiiniu Vi Smart, with the aim of creating a healthy, harmonious, and informed community.

We were fascinated by women from Gede, well represented by Josephine and Glorious, who we had a chat with, and they explained to us the many innovations they have been working on as a community, some of which include basketry and poultry farming. With the help of the Ministry of Public Service and Gede, they have managed to send their produce across Kilifi and its environment.

When you empower a woman, you empower a family and a whole nation.

Not forgetting our very own Khairat Hospital and Mephi Hospital, who have in no doubt worked to ensure that we get better health care.We had a chat with the two, and we realized that healthcare-wise, Tuko Sawa

We met with the Mercy’s Light Family Pregnancy Crisis Center, An organizations that deals in psychological, medical, financial, educational and social support/counseling, shelter, to build income for the young mothers, less fortunate and the vulnerable in the community…

For the next few years, they are looking at reducing their dependence on donations and creating innovations that will generate income and better help the young mothers.This will be made possible through fundraising events for the young mothers one of which will happen in 2024, dates to be confirmed

A close sister of the Mercy Light Family is Milele Organics,Milele Oil (AKA “the Coconut Project”), and Milele Mango Jam. They produce virgin coconut oil and mango jam.

They sell it at local shops and exhibits around Vipingo.

We are inspired by people who want to make a change and do something to impact society, and we are ready to support them in any way possible.We are Targeting from small and upcoming businesses to well established organizations.

Finally, we met with Winnie, an entrepreneur. She has been in the industry for four years now, raised in an orphanage, and is now creating one of the priciest products, tomato sauce, made from coconut. ‘This is one product you won’t find here in Kenya,” she says. She uses this to support the less privileged, and she has an organization called Safisha Dada Awareness.

Which means  that the profits she gets from these proceeds go towards elevating the needy; she is feeding over 500 orphans.

While the exhibitions were going on, the main arena was used to host a panel where they discussed matters to do with innovation, entrepreneurship,  technology and the development of AI and its impact on society. This entire session was graced by the Deputy Governor, Honorable Flora Mbetsa, who talked about the many projects that will be introduced to help the businesses in Kilifi thrive.

The Kilifi Innovation and Business Summit fosters networking and learning among entrepreneurs, innovators, SMEs, corporates, and county governments. Organized by Able Dreams Community and Kilifi County Government, it provides a diverse platform for participants to market products, learn from successful ICT and business professionals, and attract investments.

There are objectives, including Exhibit, learn, and network. The event aims to offer SMEs and corporations a marketing platform, enable mentorship and market linkages, encourage youth-to-youth business collaboration, foster entrepreneurs’ cooperation through business round tables, and generate opportunities for both county and corporate participants.
