Hadithi za KNOB Digital: “That was the start of Impertimus… Now I have that purpose,”step by step into Beatrice Kaches’s Journey as a founder.
Today we tell the story of Beatrice, a young woman with a passion for the community and a heart full of dreams. From a young age, Beatrice was captivated by tales of exploration and she yearned to see the world beyond the boundaries of her small town.
“I was passionate that I would start an organization for children, but before then I didn’t know what exactly it was.”
It all started at Moi University having pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, and a great passion for education, community, and children, she set out on a journey to turn her dreams into reality, starting off as an intern and service provider for a community organization in Kaloleni, Later worked as a lecturer in a local college in Kilifi and researcher with Aga Khan foundation. Two years later, in 2017, she joined a scholarship-giving organization in Kilifi, supporting children in Ganze.
It was during that time that she noted so many challenges that the community was passing through and in her mind, she was always looking for what kind of solution she could offer these people.
“During that time, one of the girls had passed her KCPE exams. She was supposed to go to a national school, but her parent or guardian was unable to afford it. The organization was also searching for funds to provide a scholarship, as the girl had scored over 400.”
KNOB DIGITAL, the leading digital marketing agency in Kilifi and the coastal region, recognizes Beatrice’s exceptional work and potential. We are impressed by her dedication to finding solutions for the challenges faced in her community. Beatrice’s commitment to education and her efforts to provide affordable school fee financing to parents demonstrate her passion for making a positive impact. We believe that with her skills and determination, she has the potential to bring about significant change in her community. In most cases, she says, “Most of these parents were financially stranded. They didn’t have the money to send their children to school. This question kept bothering me: how can I help these parents become financially prepared to educate their children?”
Her own experiences growing up in a low-income household and witnessing the struggles her parents faced to afford her education deeply impacted her. She saw firsthand the sacrifices her parents made and the obstacles they had to overcome. This personal connection to the issue fueled her determination to find a solution and ensure that other parents did not have to go through the same hardships.
“That was the start of Impertimus. Now I have that purpose. That I’m supposed to help parents. Financially to see how they can prepare themselves to educate their children or meet the education cost.”
Impertimus was started to help parents financially prepare for their children’s education, especially when they transition from primary to secondary school. It all came down to meeting with parents in schools and teaching them how to use chama, a simple tool that people usually save for other things, but not for education. So why Impertimus, the name Impertimus is the Latin word for ‘impart ‘ which means teaching or giving knowledge to people.
Since its inception in 2017, Impertimus has impacted the lives of 25 children and their parents. Through the zero-interest loan program for secondary education, these families have been able to afford school fees and ensure their children receive a quality education. The program has not only provided financial assistance but also empowered parents to take responsibility for their children’s education. As a result, many of the children supported by Impertimus have excelled academically and have brighter prospects for the future.
While Impertimus has achieved significant success in its five years of operation, it has not been without challenges. The organization has faced regulatory obstacles and changes in the education landscape, which forced it to pivot to offering school loans, which was in 2020. Despite these challenges, Impertimus has remained committed to its mission and continues to provide education investment opportunities for parents. This resilience and adaptability have been crucial in ensuring the organization’s long-term sustainability and impact.
Currently, as the co-founder of Impertimus, Beatrice has played a great role in shaping the organization’s vision and strategies. She has been responsible for developing partnerships with other organizations, securing funding, and overseeing the implementation of programs. Additionally, she has been actively involved in engaging with parents and providing them with the necessary support and guidance. Her dedication and leadership have been instrumental in driving the success of Impertimus and its impact on the community.
Looking ahead, Impertimus has ambitious expansion plans. The organization aims to scale up its programs and reach a larger number of parents and children in the coming years. In addition to supporting children through secondary school, Impertimus is also exploring opportunities to extend its assistance to college students. By broadening its scope, Impertimus seeks to create a comprehensive support system that ensures educational opportunities for children at every stage of their academic journey. With its commitment to empowering parents and transforming the community, Impertimus is assured to make an even greater impact in the years to come.
