“It is time to prove Myself to the world”, Jackline Kibet to hadithi za KNOB Digital
Remember your first day on campus? Your first career path? First friends? Her journey speaks, from a student to a model star and entrepreneur, Meet Jackline Kibet all the way from Baringo,_ A county well known for its scenic views and spectacular wide range of international destinations, as shy as she was, facing challenges growing up, some even thought she couldn’t survive, “it is time to prove myself to the world ” she says …She studied in a fairly great high school, four years down, she joins campus, the great pwani university, _a public university in the Kilifi County in the coastal region of Kenya, located 60 km north of Mombasa in the resort town of Kilifi._ she speaks of expecting a lot, modeling being one of them, it was a high school dream and she knew it was something she needed to take to the next level, apart from that she is studying a bachelor of arts Linguistic where learning how to communicate has been her strengths, knowing the right words to say, when to say NO and knowing when to stop…
Her modeling journey has not been easy, she speaks of how hard it was to just get the training spot, it took her a month of continuous requests until weeks later when she was invited, her learning didn’t take long when she paved the runway she left everyone agape, shocked of how first she did it, weeks later, she will be featured in great photo shoots working with great photographers like Benny Banda, well known for his great use of pixels, photographs and more, sooner or later a huge invitation came, The Mekatilili Trade fair, _which is a large-scale event with a focus on Culture and business trade shows, educational and networking events for business owners & entrepreneurs creating an opportunity for them to grow their businesses, network, and build important new business relationships_.
Writers’ random thoughts: One of the biggest mistakes that some brands make when planning an event is not training their brand ambassadors or promotional staff at all, that being said we had to look for models, and few were selected, the selected models had to train for at least two weeks, with the event in mind. During the event they would usher in the guests, and lead them around to the various stalls and booths, later in the day they would model with the various products of the exhibitors, and the best model would run the show…
We are inspired by Jackline’s dream, the urge, and the passion she has for the community. As the top digital marketers in the Coastal region of Kenya, we are committed to creating more platforms for such ambassadors and we hope through our initiatives, we shall succeed in creating 500 jobs, and 1000 referrals and impacting at least 20,000 young people by 2030. See more here. Our first experience with Jackline was during the pre-training, head up, shoulder on, and boldly she walked, with magnificent swings, and perfect turns, that was incredible, we knew she had something in her, she is a jewel,
So what has been happening since then, Jackline has focused not only on her modeling career but also on her communication program that targets young ladies between the ages of 16 and 18 and 24-26. She believes that women need to be empowered, they need to know how powerful they are, she believes that this is the stage where a lot of people go into depression, suicidal cases are high because people have expectations, and it’s her time to change that, change is inevitable, she says. It’s up to everyone to make that bold step, just as bold as she is in the stand and runway, so does she plan to uplift even more ladies?
This is what she has to say for first-time models, to get better, the First thing is the catwalk, try not to run. But don’t walk too slow either, take long strides, this will help you to keep up with the pace of the rest of the model cast, and to keep your catwalk smooth and confident. At the end of the runway, you should stop and pose, shift your weight to the other foot pose again, and move off. It may help to count to three in your head before you turn to walk back, allowing time for your picture to be taken.
Remember: everything needs to look natural! When walking, your back should be straight, core tight, and shoulders back and down – but in a relaxed, not a forced, way. As you walk, your arms should swing slightly and you should keep your hands relaxed
